ArtsFest is an artist-led group with 50+ active members that supports and encourages the work of artists in Lyme Regis and surrounding areas, fosters collaboration between artists and the community and, through its activities, enhances the local economy. It has organised an autumn arts festival in Lyme Regis since 2003, the key elements of which are group exhibitions, events, workshops and a town-wide Art Trail. The group is keen to encourage artists in all disciplines to join ArtsFest 2013, as exhibitors, performers or event/ workshop leaders. Themed around its latest initiative, re:collection, ArtsFest 2013 should be the most dynamic in its 11-year history.
This year-long ArtsFest initiative supports and mentors artists to create new work across the arts spectrum inspired by artefacts, images and stories in the Lyme Regis Museum. This artwork will be on display at ArtsFest 2013, and five exhibitions will be held at the Museum’s Rotunda Gallery in the coming months to showcase work in progress on some of the re:collection projects. The fourth exhibition in this series, Keith Robinson’s ‘Jurassic Dreams', runs from 23 May until 14 July, and is open daily from 10am-5pm. re:collection is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
